Early 80s sign in the window of Mahwah NJ, Lotus dealer: "Buy a Lotus Esprit, Get a Renault LeCar FREE!"

It's not just the engine, it's every other part of the car: power window switches, seat tracks, gauges....

"Are you familiar with Lenin's works?" Peter Sellers, in the definitive movie about British labor unions, I'm All Right, Jack.

I suspect the Honda engineers had higher budgets than their Mopar bretheren, but this is a fight between assembly line workers - nobody claims the Chrysler is better than a Honda or Acura.

Considering how many vehicles were spun off that K car platform, I'm not sure Dynasty is the wrong name.

British Leyland quality vs Plymouth quality? That's a cage fight I would pay to see.

They also built versions of the Acura Legend that were sold (briefly) in the US. You're not lying.

His had an aftermarket supercharger, though.

Condition is everything with something like this. Not my style, but possible NP for fans of traditional American luxo-barges.

That said, California and a few other states have expanded Free Speech rights in their state constitutions, which do allow for political speech at Malls.

It's heavy, and I'm too lazy to Google, but it doesn't seem out of line for other luxury sedans. Eventually tightening CAFE standards will force the use of aluminum or exotic steels (or carbon fiber), but then the prices will go up.....

I'm glad you got away with it. I also suspect this didn't happen in New Jersey (or any of other northeastern police states).

Unless safety standards are relaxed, or high strength steel gets cheaper, I just don't see it happening until self-driving cars are the norm.

My Porsche Panamera-drving ESL student is waiting for just that; he wants to buy American, but he needs 4wd, given our town's indifferent snow plowing.

Not unless the government changes CAFE's bias towards light trucks.

Looks like you could be right. "Europe" is wonderfully non-specific, but Croatia certainly qualifies.

You raise a positive data point. I hope you're right.

You never drove a Lada, did you?

How come that cop car has "Yugo" badges? That's not the brand name they use in its homeland. I smell a rat.

The Yugo would've worked better in pre-emissions form, too. There used to be guy who raced on of them at Englishtown - he hot rodded the mill using parts intended for the Fiat it's based on. It ran in the 12s, IIRC.
