One small point: I would not call Lena Dunham's character "middle class." She might not come from the very wealthiest faction of New York society, but she is privileged as fuck.

While I certainly don't advocate cruelty to animals, I'm not against wearing fur or leather. Fur can be very warm, incredibly so, and faux materials can't really replace it. Leather lasts forever, etc. I use it sparingly, though.

I would rather just not eat cheese than eat low-fat cheese. And I eat more cheese than a cartoon mouse.

No. Low fat cheese is horrifying.

isn't it interesting how everyone freaks out when katy perry says she ISN'T a feminist, yet also when beyonce says she IS? katy perry is beyond problematic as a feminist, yet everyone seemed to be clamoring for her to identify as such. i don't care who calls themselves a feminist. the more the better! maybe if beyonce

Like shit, can't I just feel good as Black woman in this society without someone having something to say about it every damn time (Black men, other Black women, white men, white women). Just let me be ride this happiness out for the rest of the week before I have to go back to being treated with contempt at work,

This is merely my opinion, and I'm willing to field arguments why I'm terribly wrong, but isn't all of this just a No True Scotsman fallacy at work? Is she "truly" a feminist? Or not? Or maybe? This all just seems to me like we're arguing on the margins about something that, if this article is any indication, isn't

I just think the feminist movement is broken because we're always arguing about who is and who isn't allowed to call themselves feminists. Beyonce is not the only target of this. Look at Courtney Stodden. She calls herself a feminist and some feminists laugh at that because they don't think a woman who's had plastic

I am so sick of hearing about this whole thing but I do want to say that from what I have read here and on GT, she's striking a nerve with people and making black women feel better about themselves and their womanhood. So let her do that for cripessake. Let black women celebrate that. God knows we have so many

CLIMB INTO MY ARMS, MY BABIES. I SHALL SNUGGLE YOU INTO MY BOSOMS FOREVER.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME. The kittens are controlling my brain.

Bravo! You explained the video/song perfectly.

Well, on the surface it can look like Beyonce is saying "Pretty Hurts" even though she's pretty and that's a little lol-worthy. However, if you look at her body with your eyes and look at the video clip, you'll see Beyonce being constantly treated as a second-class "beautiful person." See the way her thighs and

Similar point, yes. But that's like saying, "didn't Marvin Gaye make the same point about sex in a more poignant way" to discourage more songs about sexytimes. It's a topic that should have songs written about it. There's room for more than 1, or 10, etc.

You know, there's a thing called "internal conflict". Sure, Beyonce always strives for perfection, but that doesn't mean she's not allowed to critique it. Maybe she wishes she didn't have to be a certain way to be liked. We all feel that way.

OH MAH GAD THE RUNT! THE LITTLE RUNT! SECOND FROM THE LEFT!

I LOVE the one in the back who's like "I don't care about the toy, I'm just trying to lick my butthole."

I have dibbs on the sweet little fluffy fatty one!

Where does a 26 year old even meet a 17 year old? Is he still hitting on chicks in the food court at the mall or something?
