I agree. I think attempted rape is serious enough that it should factor into the decision almost no matter what (especially if this represents a pattern of behavior on his part), but if the allegations are true then Kavanaugh’s denials and refusal to take responsibility make things much worse.

My general thinking is that it does matter if you continue to deny it because it shows a lack of growth. Admitting to mistakes and apologizing for them, and saying that you are not that person is acceptable to me. But pretending to be a boy scout or writing it off as nothing serious means you are still a terrible…

So I guess anyone in jail or prison for crimes they committed while 17 or younger is just going to be released today, right? Because nothing could possibly have been serious enough to try them as adults or ruin their futures, right?

He seems really inconsistent on this. On the one hand, he’s acknowledging, when forced to, that these allegations are serious. On the other hand, he seems to think that nothing from high school should matter (at least for this particular person).

My thoughts exactly, but then I read somewhere that psychopaths tend to keep journals and lists so they can relive their past feats. 

If I produce a high school calendar and it doesn’t say “masturbate and cry” in every box, does that mean it didn’t happen?

He can produce a 36 year old calendar from when he was a junior in high school, but no one can seemingly find the work he did for the W. Bush White House?

Yeah, I don’t get the scorn for Avenatti.  As far as I can tell, he’s out there fighting the good fight.

Yeah I don’t get this article at all.  Avenatti is uniquely brave and the voice we need in these dark, harsh times.  Men like him have always existed, but there are far fewer these days.  We need to support them wherever we find them.  He’s a god&damned hero honestly. 

Modern progressives are afraid of their own shadow. If we had a couple thousand activists like Avenatti on our side to counter the evil jihadists like James O’keefe on theirs, we’d be unbeatable.

So what you’re saying is that in the battle of public opinion, which is the only actual leverage anyone has over the Republicans in power, drumming up media attention for a serial sexual assaulter who is otherwise about to be confirmed to the Supreme Court of the United States is bad. 

Counterpoint: He might be helping by creating chaos the way Trump creates it. Sure, we don’t want “our side” to act like Trump. But Avenatti can’t help himself. He likes to get in the mud. And I think he’s got credible victims and witnesses. So ignore his tweets and wait for his press release / media appearances…
