This is the same problem with making PS3 games 3D capable. Unless a game takes unique advantage of the technology to do something creative, or uses it as a main mechanic, they're sacrificing performance or worse... gameplay.

Why do vegetarians make food shaped like meat? It's backwards compatibility. There are already hamburger buns.

@Sundeiru: I was invited, and denied the request due to my unreasonable hatred for social networking. Maybe I'm just old, but I hate the idea of having any of my personal information on the Internet.

@Daniel Hinkles: Those were the good 'ole days. When Hulu streamed fine through the browser. When Hulu streamed even better through Linux. The good 'ole days indeed.

Kotaku is like a digital family. We love making you proud by answering your trivia questions. We aren't spoiled, but we also love it when you shower us with gifts for paying attention and answering correctly. The commenters love the editors. So we must ask... Who is this facebook you've been spending time with?

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: I was wondering if anyone else remembered streaming Hulu fine from their PS3 browser. Removing a feature, then enabling it later for a price, hoping nobody remembers. It's hard to believe anyone will pay extra money to watch television on their..... television.

It would be interesting to play an RPG that was created with coop as a main mechanic. Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata are a couple this generation that have tacked it on, but they don't push the boundaries past anything Square did with FF3. Assign a couple characters to 2p and continue the game... Coop puzzle

@Carey.Laius: Behold the mighty power of the Shake Weight.

Disemvowelment is for the weak. There is no warning before the hammer is upon you.

Thanks for the screen. I was completely ignoring this game until I saw that. Gorgeous. If this delivers, it may finally dethrone Sacred 2 as best kill-and-loot timesink.

@Karth is Ego Tripping: It's not all of a sudden. The game is all about time trials, so it's limited to a very niche fanbase. In my mind, it's the best game made this generation. Most people hated it because of the short campaign, poor shooting mechanics, and no multiplayer. The game wasn't made for any of those

@PersianSpice: You beat me to it. That was probably my favorite game this generation. I'm concerned that they'll ruin the sequel with multiplayer, sandbox, guns, etc., but as long as the time trials and speed runs stay true to form, a sequel would be amazing. I still have a blast with the time trial map pack. It's

@Deanb: If not, I'm sure his dad would still appreciate a sweet paperweight with a chin arrow.

Not really. The drawing mechanic is most important, and probably works great on the DS. The art style looks great on the system too. I see no particular need for 3D in any game unless it uses that functionality as a core game mechanic.

@Salari: He doesn't have to, he's an actor.

I expect to play it 14 days, at which point I will pass out and die from malnutrition and exhaustion, and my mother will be blamed for my idiocy.

@TRT-X: Then you would benefit from the murder of anyone who attended the PS Blog meet-up, who received posters of that very thing.

It almost feels like an insult to the developers to use component cables with this game. I'll just have to buy the deluxe edition to make up for it. Yeah... I'm trying to justify the purchase...

@Koztah: Oh, that makes complete sense, but it doesn't really make the game fun for me. Sure, if available, any sane person would look for the most powerful weapon, but I'd love a Silent Hill where there were no such weapons to be found. Dead Space was supposed to be terrifying, yet I was never on the edge of my
