Ha! My username is back from 2006, and is initially from Deadspin (back when you had to “audition”). It’s a reference to Paul Newmn’s character in Slap Shot.

I’m a west coast kid, and a big reason for this roadtrip is for my soul to reach the point of homeostasis between where it’s been, and where it’s going.

Last November we relocated to Detroit, and moved everything we owned, including 2 cars, but left behind our beloved 1967 Imperial Crown Coupe, Noreen. Above is the rough itinerary.

Michigan!

Cheap tools.

Have almost the exact one pictured, it’s a great car. A little loud (road noise from the rear), but it is insanely comfortable. Mileage is good on the highway, but a bit thirsty in city.  Would buy again, if I could.

Riddle me this:

I’m not going to be in town until 11/16, any chance something can break on the J10 and delay this a couple weeks?

As a Detroiter, I hope with all my heart this pro-Trump crowd all safely return to the suburbs from which they came. I hope they are so incensed they never step foot in the city again — not even for a Red Wings game. Really, I mean it.

In my youth I had paper out on me for an FTA, multiple officers (different county, same state) never executed the warrant during a traffic stop, urinating in public, and a couple of other things. One of them straight up told me, “I see you have an active warrant out of [Blank] County, I should be taking you in, but I

Good business strategy you got to alienate 50% of your market for a car site.

My first car was a ‘72, dead nuts simple and cheap as chips. New engine (everything but the case) can be built for $900 with 6 wrenches. The aftermarket support and community makes it so much easier.

I agree, wholeheartedly. I brought a ‘74 Econoline back from a half decade of death replacing the carb, brake system (entire), alternator, half a harness, suspension, and a passable interior. Mrs. Dunlop rolls her eyes when I mention I’d be comfortable driving halfway across America. The thing is, I know this vehicle.

Uusername checks out.

Another vanner (not insta vanlife) on jalopnik?  Hello!

didn’t dnt buy my jack stands from HF, but after this I still went out to the shop to cross check mine.

As the guy with FWD ‘85 K10 with only 3 working tires in front of their house, I’m not going to judge.

The 2nd Gen Ford Econoline (1968-1974) equipped with the side barn doors, use the exact same as those on the rear. Not exactly what you asked, but same?

I’m pretty sure that only XAA-XAW was for Mason County.

Do you know the history on the Jag? I ask as the XYR prefix on a Washington plate was designated for the Department of Lisencing from 1958-1981. That plate would have been in use in the latter years of that range.
