This is on Jezebel because there’s no reason it shouldn’t be.

At around 5 a.m. during the first night my boyfriend spent at my apartment, we were shocked out of our sleep by a

Right—I didn’t mean to insinuate she specifically did, I meant more of the Steinem/Albright proxies that have come out recently. She has mentioned sort of offhand why being a woman would be a positive in terms of her experience as you mentioned, yes, but definitely never “I’m a woman so vote for me.”

I still think it’s a false equivalence. I don’t think Barack Obama ever mentioned “black people, let’s rally together” when he was running for office.

It’s the difference between punching up and punching down. EVERYTHING is made for white, straight, cis men. So they don’t have to rally their communities around anything, because it’s all just...theirs. By default.

Someone needs to sit me down and explain it to me, too. I don’t get it. I don’t think Killer Mike said anything wrong. I don’t think Bernie said anything wrong. And like, yeah he’s an old white man, and we’ve had a lot of old white men. Hillary would be different, because she’s an old white woman. Technically Bernie

I reread the entire letter and can see where you’re coming from but... there is not a single word about the plight of poor and homeless people. There is no word about making an attempt to house people. It’s all about him not wanting to see homeless people, and commending the temporary disappearing of the population

The idea that successfully holding down a job and making rent entitles you to complete freedom from perceiving the unhappiness of others is so breathtakingly narcissistic.

“I shouldn’t have to see the pain, struggle, and despair of homeless people to and from my way to work every day.”

I think you’d have a point if most people didn’t know that Caitlyn used to go by Bruce. However, is there really anybody out there who does not realize the two are connected?

It seems extreme that simply recalling the first name — while otherwise using the feminine pronoun throughout, and never calling today’s Caitlyn Bruce instead — would be “transphobic.” It’s getting to egg-shelly around here.

This is such an awful story and I don’t want to look at more articles. But people are criticizing the father? Fuck.

I’ve seen people tearing the father to shreds for leaving when commanded (by gun). I know that it’s a tragically difficult scenario to imagine, and people’s instincts are to stay with their children no matter what, but who knows what would’ve happened if he stood his ground? At least this way he was able to leave and
