They are allowing the largest software company in the world, and the third largest company in the world by market cap, to purchase the largest game software company in the US (non first party).  That is fucking horrible.

Mergers and acquisitions of any kind are a net negative for the regular consumer. Call of Duty is on the way to exclusivity and that means a required Xbox purchase if not this gen, then next gen for 1 million+.

Narrowing the focus of the case to Call of Duty, to the exclusion of most other of Activision’s IP was a huge mistake and negatively affected the strength of FTC’s case.

Kids buy stuff on their own, too. And some parents probably either don’t know or don’t care, when their kids ask for it.

Or, like, put less caffeine in it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this industry needs space for failure. When the only path forward is a safe bet, we get homogenized, sterile work only.

Be quiet, Microsoft. Everything you’re accusing Sony of doing (paying studios for console exclusivity, keeping DLC exclusive to one platform over others, etc), you have also done in the past.

“Not wanting FF to be an action series is gatekeeping” is a pretty horrible and mean-spirited argument, I have to say. That’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah, just like how Resident Evil 5 and 6 were the best-selling games in the series for almost a decade.
