The problem is that they want to go for the mass appeal angle. Because most people play CoD or Madden when they say they play those games then people will be like "Hey that's cool, I play those games too! They're just like me!"

I never got the impression from the show that it was condoning those acts. Each and every character was morally gray and most were in it for themselves rather than the survival of their race. The show seemed to allow for the viewer to judge for themselves weather or not the actions were proper or over reacting.
