Hey it may seem expensive but look you get a shared washer dryer, a view of the alleyway, sometimes street parking is available in this neighborhood and only one of your roommates is a potential serial killer. Sure it's up 3 flights of stairs and there's usually a bum sleeping on your steps but.... what was my point

I suspect the city just line items the 100k as "Promotional Expenses" since the amount of goodwill and publicity generated by the stunt was huge. It probably costs that much in police overtime every Halloween, St. Paddys day, Bay to Breakers, etc.

Gosh you mean things that would help pregnant women and children? Like food stamps and national preschools and paid medical leave? You know golly-gee I couldn't find any examples of anti-choicers rallying to promote these causes. It's almost as if there is some other motivation at play that's not about the BAYBEEEES.

My Privilege nooooooooo!!!!!

Is anyone else as disappointed as I am that Gibson stopped writing science fiction and started writing about bomber jackets and pants gussets and Japanese denim? I loved Spook Country but couldn't get more than 30 pages into Pattern Recognition.

Yeah to be honest I never contacted them in time (it was 3 weeks before my wedding) and then later when I reached a representative I had already replaced the Tux (Calvin Klien, very happy with it) and didn't want to jump through the hoops to get my 2nd Tux replaced. I think in the pepper mentality there comes a strong yearning for the apocalypse, which will restore the purity of rugged individualism to a complex, interconnected world where we as individuals have very little control over our lives.

That and they wasted whole entire episodes on dream sequences and non-events happening. Like the writers couldn't imply a character's interior live without having them dream they were riding in on a horse or something.

Oh man can they toss AMC in there for another $10 a month?

Yes I agree, the horrors of civilization gone wrong falls on the physically weakest first, women and children. One of the things that makes TWD so compelling for me is the question of "What choices would I be forced to make? How much of my soft liberal humanity would get stripped away?"

I've only read World War Z two times but I remember in the book (dear god not the movie) there are several female characters well represented, a fighter pilot and a cannibalism survivor. I don't recall gender roles being really chewed on in that book.

Agreed x 10, and in TWD Michonne is basically written as a man so there's little opportunity there.

The actor playing Christian Grey is not there for anyone to relate to or empathize with: he's there to be an object of lust.

Preach it brother.l

Dang it why didn't my image post:

ATTENTION: The first season is as good as it's going to get.

Wow I didn't know that. I guess they did the best they could. Still thought the explanation of "Angels or Whatever" was a bit of a dodge.
