Whatever happened to the Beyond: Two Souls/Heavy Rain two-pack physical release for PS4? Hrm.
They left IGN a year ago, if that helps. They have their own separate company now with a couple of other ex-IGN employees. “KindaFunny Games.”
Bethesda is claiming that they “sold 12 million copies THROUGH retailers.” That sounds like they mean sold to customers? They DID say that includes digital copies, to be fair.
I never believed that the audience was different. And judging by how people barely noticed Tomb Raider got released and it flopped in its first week while Fallout sold roughly 12 million copies? Yeah... I think that seals the deal.
So what you’re saying is...
The ambiguity reminds me of how I felt half the time when choosing my responses in Alpha Protocol (“Wait, WHAT? He said WHAT?”)
You may recall that they hired a temporary contract team to specifically analyze the entire EU for 4-5 months to determine what could be salvaged and still be aligned with the new canon.
But what did those characters do, then? Their entire EU is wiped clean; they can’t suddenly say “Except for this one story.” They already said that, after a four-month review of the EU materials to determine what to keep and what to scrap, they decided they had to scrap EVERYTHING.
I think the smarter call would’ve been to cherry-pick a bit. Maybe say “Anything from the EU that happens during the prequels is canon, stuff that happens between the PT and OT is case-by-base, and everything during/after OT is out.” You know, something like that.
Yeah, “Splinter” was seen as “maybe-kinda loose continuity” for a long time in the old EU. As the first piece of EU fiction long before we knew what “Expanded Universe” meant and long before we had Empire/Jedi nailing some things in place, it has a lot of issues that made it NOT officially canon in the view of…
I recoil instinctively at the idea that Luke and Vader were somehow having MORE encounters between movies that just never made it to the screen. That’s always something that’s rang false to me.
Seconded.
This game is so stupid, so simplistic and kinda crappy, and SO FUN just because of the delight and joy of watching your favorite Star Wars character kick the SHIT out of each other.
It also takes around 2 or 3 hours to beat it 100%, so if you’re a stickler for length in exchange for price, this might not be your bag.
This is also why MLB officials hunt down and shiv anyone who records a baseball game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball.
I hear a lot about this issue from Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty because I used to listen to Podcast Beyond, and now I listen to PS I Love You XOXO.
That’s reasonable. So it’s kind of like this and your own games are basically interactive art designed to instill a specific mood, you’d say?
That’s a sweet idea, and it looks attractive in the gifs, but... I really, really don’t care for games where I can’t interact with anything or do anything or have any goal. It’s more zen exercise than anything; that has a place, but I don’t think I need that place to be on an electronic screen.
For me, it’s
