Was going to comment that they let guys jump up to the big leagues at age 17 in soccer - then I remembered that the vast majority of players put in time in the U23, U21, or U18 teams

I believe the preferred pronunciation is, “Professional hitter, Chili Davis.” At least, that’s what the broadcasters said every time I saw him on t.v.

My thought as well. Isn’t even that he was shallow (Statcast is cool). It’s that he didn’t realize the ball was hit deeper than he was until way too late.

True fact: Playing the national anthem prior to baseball games began during WWI as a way to blunt criticism against the owners for continuing the season while the nation was at war.

I live in RVA. My next-door neighbor likes to listen to the games on his back porch and then bikes down to the stadium (10 min) during the middle of the 6th.

And since they won’t id the cop, I say they let him tackle and cop who “fit the description” of the one who held a gun to his head. The police should find that an acceptable guideline, right?

Why you don’t have more stars for this is a goddamn travesty.

Couple of points to add to this obvious “hack”:

Most of the readers don’t remember Ma Bell. I’m old. Here’s a star.

As bad as George W. Bush’s presidency was, as much as the majority of Americans actively disliked him by the end of the second term, subsequent generations of Bushes will hold public office in Texas and will probably hold important national political positions.

Now playing

I remember that game. Also remember Eckersley’s reaction to getting taken deep by a young Manny Ramirez in extra innings.

Oh, man! admire and model thyself after the whale! Do thou, too, remain warm among ice. Do thou, too, live in this world without being of it. Be cool at the equator; keep thy blood fluid at the Pole. Like the great dome of St. Peter’s, and like the great whale, retain, O man! in all seasons a temperature of thine own.

Dental plan.

I don’t doubt your data. I dispute the notion that those are in any way respectable GPAs — especially given rampant grade inflation. You got to carry at least a 3.25 if you both to study and do the readings.

Yeah - because paying the music faculty a living wage is the reason college costs are so high. I’m sure it has nothing to do with public divestment from Higher Education, even as the necessity of a college degree to enter many professions sends more and more students to college.

Love that Rashford still has braces.

I agree with the added idea that Indiana and Chicago may have been demanding more from Boston bc of all their young assets. I can see a GM trying to squeeze more value out of Boston in a way they couldn’t from OKC or Minnesota. Then, when Boston says no to the squeeze - they trade elsewhere out of spite. Sad thing is

Couldn’t help myself - I work in C19 American Literature / History. Thanks for being cool abt. a needless correction.

Great comment. BTW: It’s “handled with kid gloves.” Gloves made with the skin of young goats (kids) being expensive and sought after due to how soft they were.

Agree — it’s the requirement that you must purchase two separate products which operate on two separate platforms to get the full package. It’s as though Netflix had split physical DVDs from streaming movies much earlier in the game.
