Make the same slide facing the bag with a hand out to swipe it and there’s no call. He’s not that far out of the path, but by making no attempt to tag the bag he makes this an easy call for the ump.

True. Also - the worst sort of comeback to give up —- Drip, drip, drip. “C’mon guys, easy out here.”

Reminds me of John Hart when he was GM of the Indians during the 90s. By 1996-1997 they already had their core in place and had the following prospects at Triple and Double A: Brian Giles (LF), Damian Jackson (MI), Jaret Wright (RHP), Bartolo Colon (RHP), Richie Sexton (1B), Enrique Wilson (SS), Danny Graves (RHP),

This summer I joined the cult of people using Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. No, I cannot bake a cake on it. But I’ve done chicken, ribs, brisket, and pork shoulder just fine. Took some of the money I saved and bought a nice dual-probe thermometer and some high-end bbq gloves.

I think the thing you’re missing here is that there’s more upside to Kap than there is to most of the QBs in Breer’s tweets. Derek Anderson and Colt McCoy? I’ve seen them play (along with Brendon Wheedon and a buch of other tomato cans). Kap was good enough to take a team to the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. He’s

“Can of Corn” is one of my favorites along with “Right in his wheelhouse.” Old-timey baseball slang for the win.

Initially read that as Margaret Cho and was really confused.

Sounds like they could also then use access to the building as a way to limit access to residents of the town as well.

^^ Spot on. Soccer is the same as baseball in this respect. One player isn’t enough to turn a team around. The other thing soccer has going for it is a truly international labor market which increases the number of insane billionaires willing to bid up the prices of a handful of transcendent players. So while in

Oh God yes. I coach rec. Had a parent ask me what the difference was between our team and that one (pointing over to one of the travel teams). “About 1500 dollars,” was my reply.

I’m totally convinced that the rise of lacrosse in the suburbs is fueled by parents who feel there are too many brown and black kids in soccer. Since soccer doesn’t require all that expensive gear, there’s no barrier to the poors mixing it up with the sons of the upper middle classes.

Came here for this comment. Would have accepted comment about wearing them in winter with socks as well.

I don’t understand this. I’ve lived in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Houston, San Antonio, and RVA. I wouldn’t have been surprised in any of those cities to have heard a report of a fan shouting a racial slur at an opposing player.

^^ Thanks. Obvious I don’t understand German. The flashing of the engine — as opposed to something more radical — seemed to promise reversibility.

I think the Niners smartly used the Browns record of incompetence to fool the Bears into seriously overpaying. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to hear the Bears were told Cleveland was willing to trade two of their 11 picks for Trubisky.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Looks like his shop is out in the country where the mass transit system is less robust. So get the mod to buy yourself two extra years of having to haul the kid around and then switch back when they’e 18.

Yeah, bummed about that. Hopefully, since neither team has a tradition of being a perennial contender one will be good when the other is down and I won’t be facing a sophie’s choice :)

It wasn’t perfect - but it was a heck of a lot better than a lot of the throws to home from the outfield. You know the ones where the catcher just stands there shouting “hit your cut-off man” as the ball passes crashes into the backstop.

In contrast to the “pick a team” folk. I commend you for having a second team in a different conference. Moved from Cleveland to College Station, TX in ‘93 and lived there for 12 years. Always an Indians/Cavs fan, but Astros and Spurs were on t.v., girlfriend/wife was from San Antonio - and I ended up rooting for
