As long as Charles Dance is 'Daddy', I'll watch this trope from now until eternity.

Dark City?

Not a movie, but allegedly the cost of this show is the reason it was cancelled early (nevermind that HBO then greenlit "Rome", which was BONKERS expensive. And dumb). Season Two ends on a cliffhanger that we'll never get resolved.

By the same logic, you could chose Mike Judge's foray into science fiction (sort of):

Mumford. Criminally underrated and unknown classic.

One of my favorite moments in the episode was when Varys hears the bells tolling (announcing a royal death), turns, and joins Tyrion's box on the ship to... away. Varys is a smart man.

"Tywin Lannister! You have failed this city!"

I think all things are possible when it comes to Peter Dinklage's charisma. This is absolutely the first time that I've felt anything he did in this show fell even the least bit flat.

And with Game of Thrones you tend to see it even a little bit more because of the I've Read the Books and Therefore My Opinion is Superior crowd. I have read the books, but that doesn't somehow make my opinion automatically more "right" than someone who is just watching the TV show. The beauty of the source

The protagonist is a writer! It's set in Maine! Someone is an alcoholic! *glug glug glug*

15 Seasons? Under The Dome will be lucky if it survives another 15 episodes, unless they discover a wormhole to Westeros that's guarded by an undercover Agent Dale Cooper on the Meereen side and Chiana on the Chester's Mill side, roleplaying as an ice-cream salesperson, but where the ice cream is actually radioactive

A mostly forgotten Sci-fi flick?
