Russia actually has a decent soccer league with stadiums already built that have hosted Champions League finals, etc., whereas Qatar is just full of a bunch of camel jockeys.

The hand-eye coordination of NHL players is so good that the better players can take passes out of the air. There was actually an incredible goal in the NCAA championship where a Union player slid on his stomach to steal the puck, got to his knees, and flipped a perfect rainbow over the defense to a streaking teammate Read more

You're dead wrong on your sport comparison. You actually can't move the ball back over half court in basketball, and there is a shot clock so you really can't wait as long as you want for a good play to open. Basketball is closer to lacrosse, especially indoor, with pick and rolls, draw and dumps, and pretty similar Read more

Actually, my favorite quote about this subject was from Jimmy 'The Rent is Too Damn High' McMillan who said, "If a man wants to marry a shoe, I'll marry 'em!"

I've pushed this idea for years for application to New York's Finger Lakes. The sides of the lakes are generally pretty steep (especially Canandaigua west side, where I first noticed this), so the west sides are shaded from about 3 pm on. A giant mirror on the hills on the east side would solve this. Everyone always Read more

I have to second this one, I ride my bike on the Erie Canal trail and some runners have the volume turned up so loud it takes "heads up...Heads Up....HEADS UP!!!!" to get them to move from dead center of the trail to the right. I would assume they have their stereos at the same volume on the road.
