The problem with this is that every time you have an episode, it reinforces pathways in your brain. And the episodes can get more and more severe.

I know this is old but man, are you wrong here.
Perhaps you aren’t familiar with government efforts to suppress activists, but they definitely go after peaceful protestors. Even if all you’ve ever done is stuff like hanging banners and marching.
I’m pretty skeptical of this chart. It’s alright as an “oh, that’s interesting” but since it doesn’t take into account individual factors, I don’t think it’s actually useful for tracking training progress. It’s just a pace chart with VO2 max estimates. Those estimates are based purely on your pace, so if you’re using…
This is honestly one of my biggest barriers to backpacking. I love sleeping outdoors, packaged food, long, challenging hikes. But I just cannot fathom carrying my own shit around in a bag. I can barely handle doing that for the dog, and that’s a much lower ick factor.
Rural areas in the US are fantastic, until you live there. That’s where you’ll find the best hiking, climbing, paddlesports, fantastic views, amazing food. I can even get on board with country music if I’m in the right mood. The people tend to be very nice, as long as you appear straight and white.
Best advice might be to split the difference. Maybe three months savings is out of reach while trying to pay down debt, but one month would be doable. Get the benefit of avoiding cash advances if you have a rough month, but still make getting out of debt a priority.
Definitely will. I’m strongly considering giving rides to the polls this year. I’ll wear a respirator and drive with the windows down, so it should be decently Covid-safe.
He’s been so off the radar that I just assumed he was no longer with us. Glad he is!
Cash advances are a bad idea for a few reasons.
We’ve been referring to our stimulus money as our “flee the country fund” for if things go poorly in November. Maybe Trump wins, maybe Trump loses and uses his lame duck session to burn the entire country to the ground, I dunno, shit could get real fucked.
Because you can’t pay for everything with a credit card. Rent, car payments, credit card and utility bills, etc., generally must be paid via cash or a checking account. Having enough saved to pay those bills is definitely a priority over paying down debt. Paying more in interest sucks, but it’s a lot better than being…
Teachers are NOT medical workers. That’s the point. Doctors and nurses are medical workers. They signed up to work with sick people. It’s in the job description. It is actually necessary for them to work with patients in person. And even then, not always. I’ve had several tele-health appointments in the past few…
I am extremely worried about what they’ll do for specialists once in-person learning, even a hybrid, lower-contact model, resumes.
That’s great for you, but I’d be risking SO much if forced to return to in person learning. Even if I didn’t die, I would lose my life. I’d consider myself a potential super spreader at all times (because I would be) and wouldn’t feel safe going anywhere but school and home. Basically quarantine plus work. I’m not…
In my metropolitan area, a movement is forming for teachers to refuse to return for in-person. The biggest district has a pretty solid union that is leading the way with planning how to draft demands. Teachers in neighboring districts and private schools are joining in. Not a strike, exactly, because we’re more than…
This is a discussion that does not happen enough.
Have you tried wearing a tube scarf, like a Buff? It wraps around your whole face and neck. This means they’re a bit hotter, but not bad, and it prevents that “imbalanced” effect.
Seems like your issue is less with women, and more with these particular women. You just don’t have much in common with them in terms of interests and lifestyle. That doesn’t mean you can’t be friendly, but it does probably mean you won’t be great friends.
I don’t think there’s anything weird about a peanut butter tortilla.
I think that you are 100% justified in not doing anything you aren’t comfortable with. Cancelling late wasn’t ideal, so I get your neighbor feeling irked, but if you’re friends, then it shouldn’t be something you can’t talk about and move forward on. A gesture of friendship, whether it’s as small as a text or more…
