You might think of it more like a group home than an orphanage. Lots of kids end up in group homes for various reasons, even when they have living parents. In the states, you can't place a kid in one for reasons of poverty alone, but in many cases poverty is an exacerbating factor.

What other English should they learn?

A woman I worked with adopted a little boy from Mexico who had a living mother who just couldn't afford to feed him. The mother was constantly visiting and very much a part of the boy's life. My coworker didn't care- the important thing was that she got *her* kid. She picked this boy specifically because he had

Also in Mexico and it is the saddest thing I have ever seen.

Not always, no. It's a lot more complicated than that. Even placing a kid in an orphanage doesn't necessarily mean terminating your parental rights.

There's a long history of orphanages taking children whose parents cannot afford to care for them (I'm aware of this happening in Korea but am sure it happens elsewhere too). Unfortunately, this does mean that kids with parents who love them get adopted and shipped halfway across the world. Terrible.

You know what Kim could do though- give this girl a bunch of money. I mean would 50k or even 100k really set her back that much? I don't know I didn't see the episode or know literally anything else about this story but there are loads of ways Kim could better that girls life that don't include literally adopting her.

I think the idea is that she was too young at the time to have been very observant of adult behavior...to head off the inevitable additional questions of what she might have seen or heard.

I just wish she didn't add the "...I was a baby..."part. Because Cosby only rapes grown women?

I think anyone who uses this story to discredit Cosby's victims would have found some other flimsy excuse to discredit those women anyway.

"Alleged victim". Because she should be considered the victim of sexual assault, while Bill Cosby should not be considered the victim of her accusations.

I am truly sorry for your ordeal. Anyone who could do that to another human being should be bunk buddies with Charles Manson. Same thing happened to my best friend and she couldn't swallow right for days. If someone asked her why she didn't bite, I'd probably respond by jamming my fist in their mouth and yelling "WHY

sweetheart. all of my love.

First, I am so sorry. What happened to you is horrifying and I hope you are recovering.

"If my question struck anyone as insensitive, I'm sorry as that was not my intention."

Just an observation but if women killed men as frequently as men kill women, there would be an enormous outcry. Now people take it as business as usual.

And people argue that immigrants from Central America should immediately be deported instead of being allowed to seek amnesty. The violence is real in these countries, and we are to blame for much of it.

I have read so far that it was the sisters boyfriend who confessed and led them to the bodies.. horrible horrible

Their poor parents :(

Just in time for the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. :(
