We have a radio show like that in Australia, Kyle and Jacki O, which repeatedly does awful stuff like this, and for some reason is still popular. One of their stunts was putting a 14 year old on a lie detector and questioning her about whether she had had sex (it turns out she had been raped).

What are the moral and legal limits on what the defence can/should do?

The two reinforce each other probably. The men have more free time to play politics, giving them more power. And because they have more power, they can continue to get away with doing less.

Many of them are, but not Chatsworth. There's a documentary about it on Netflix at the moment if you are interested. They talk to the current owner who still lives there.

It's like politics was just a toy that the sisters fought over, with no regard for the people it affects.

I remember doing them to each other on sleepovers, so I associate them with childhood. We didn't know about cornrows or appropriation back then though (being white Australian kids). Fashion folks should know better though.

I saw a documentary that linked the adoption of Christianity by rulers with it's good/bad, christian/pagan dichotomy which made it a useful tool. Anyone who opposes you isn't a good Christian so they are evil and deserve punishment. I thought that was an interesting idea.

I think it's usually people with little social capital (i.e. won't be defended) or people who pose a potential social threat to the bully.

It sounds like it is a very modern 'tradition'. I was in Paris about a decade ago and didn't see any. It seems to have taken off very quickly.

Greatness really depends on who you are comparing yourself to. Unless you are the best in the world at something, there is always going to be another level of achievement you can't reach. I find though that there's something really satisfying in becoming competent at something. Pride in a job well done and all of

I haven't noticed anyone trying to market a car intended to meet all of the the needs of the "man demographic". This car seems to imply that all other cars are made for men, but this one is for women.

Someone did that once with my daughter when she a baby. It was great to have a break.

Yeah, I normally would be against recording someone without their knowledge. But in this sort of situation, personal safety is a more pressing concern.

It's probably not an accident that this type of movie appeals to both types of audience. They can claim that the point is to critique the characters in order to appeal to those who want a more moral movie, while also making the movie fun enough to appeal to audiences who just enjoy the spectacle and want that

I'm so glad to be outside their target age range now. It's like they just vanished, probably because they don't think I'm worth talking to anymore. Good riddance.

Imagine how surprised that woman would have been to get it back!

My reaction to that is that men shouldn't be hit so often, not that women should be hit more...

The police are investigating, and this guy doesn't appear to be asking for funds. Also, as pointed out in the post, this type of violence happens far too often. It's possible it is a hoax, but very unlikely.

It may have simply been a desire to cause pain.

The bigotry exists merely to provide a socially sanctioned outlet for violence and aggression. So people can act like monsters while pretending they are defending society from immorality.
