I think it is about revulsion towards corpses rather than concern for victims (which is often lacking for actual living people). How a culture handles corpses probably has a big impact on the spread of disease.

You seem to be using 1%'er without understanding that it means that 99% of the population are excluded, no matter how much they try to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

If you have to produce a substantial amount of work for a job application you should be paid for it.

Aren't you concerned about the risk of being a murderer?

Your property is not more valuable than someone's life.

The only context I can think of where this makes sense is a description of shock/surprise (i.e. pale with shock).

Yeah, the kid doesn't have some inbuilt biological ability to know what a gun or a sword or a princess is. They have seen it somewhere - and it was probably gendered.

Kicking a child out to raise a baby on her own isn't responsible parenting.

She sounds awful and should be blamed for contributing to the abuse of the models, but it doesn't seem right to say she is worse than Terry. Why holder her to a higher standard than him?

In most of the places I have worked, a year off work is standard. In those workplaces, filling in for someone on maternity leave is often a good opportunity to pick up some new skills. Generally a temp is brought in at entry level to fill the gap, and may be kept on after if they are good.

I don't think it is universal, but cultures with that attitude tend to be better at winning wars and spreading their practices.

You hate the fact that she cried more than you hate the fact that she was harassed? Can't you see a problem with that?

Not everyone can control when they cry. It would only be unprofessional if done intentionally, and I doubt that was the case.

Also, don't ask someone to provide services for free if you aren't going to invite their SO.

I thought the cat became enraged and dangerous 'after' the kick? The baby didn't get mauled.

I think the word 'attack' is giving the impression of something much more violent than actually happened. The baby has a small scratch on the forehead - like what you get when a cat swats you. It looks like the kick wasn't to defend the baby, but to punish the cat.

It doesn't sound like kicking the cat actually made the baby any safer.

I guess the question is whether the kick was to save the baby from the cat (i.e. it was still attacking the baby), or whether the kick was in retaliation. If it was the first case then OK, if it was the second case then it's not OK.

I was reiterating my point about Jezebel having a wide audience of people from different regions. I don't understand why you are so annoyed by people not knowing the same slang that you do.

These are all good things to know - and putting an explanation in the article would help more people learn about it (or a link as the author thoughtfully provided). 911 wouldn't do much good in my case though - wrong country.
