I'm pretty sure the comment was about how dolphins are sophisticated enough to be psychologically harmed by 'forced copulation', which is an argument for calling it rape. Not an argument about whether they are advanced enough to be morally responsible.

I never stopped being a fussy eater, but learnt that if I was the cook I could prepare food the way I like it. Perhaps teaching him how to prepare his own food (don't know if he's old enough) could help. Even if it doesn't broaden his tastes, you won't have to prepare so many 'special' meals.

I had never even heard of raw egg being dangerous until I started visiting American web sites. AFAIK it is standard practice in Australia to eat cake batter and biscuit dough with raw egg.

So many of the people complaining about children on aeroplanes sound like petulant children themselves. When you shove so many people into a tight space together for a long period of time, there will be inconveniences. If adults can't be mature enough to handle that, what hope do young children have?

The way I did it was just be doing something else at the usual feeding time (such as outside, or in another part of the house). Most of the time she would either forget, or be easily distracted, and the times when she did insist I still fed her. It didn't take long at all (a week or two) before she just forgot about…

This is something I'm trying to do at the moment - embrace the girly things, but make sure that's not all there is. She can play in the dirt in a tutu, or play with trains in a tiara. Nail polish just becomes another craft activity.

I ended up depending on online stores to provide a choice of non-pink clothes. At least it's easier to shop around online than in physical stores. We still ended up with lots of pink though because most of the clothes are handed down from cousins, or are gifts.
