He sounds more like he has a borderline mental illness rather than being a “hero” (could a word possibly be more overused?).

They are not so much stereotypes as accurate generalizations about the relative prevalence of behaviors among various groups of people.
Also a dirty little secret about hotel tax money, is that a surprising amount of hotel stays are residents, either in a divorce, or houses modeled, or paying for relatives to stay in town. And extra taxes do in fact decrease number of stays and spending during visits, not 1 to 1, but some amount.
To be fair what on earth do you expect? I am strongly against publicly funding sports venues, but this is an ex-player and announcer whose livelihoods were and are intimately tied up in league revenues, and those revenues are going to be much higher when they include shaking down the public for several hundred million…
I remember riding Peyton manning to some titles his first couple seasons. Before that I was a big elway fan. This was the late 80s early 90s when we started. Those were the days, manually adding scores. Landlines. A different era.
I might look at it another way. The current CBA ensures he is drastically underpaid. So he is trying to get the maximum allowable. That they would hesitate on that when they are structurally badly underpaying him is insulting and worth fighting about.
I see fencing response. Hit his head pretty hard.
“In 2007, an EpiPen cost about $57. Today that price has skyrocketed to over $600—all for about $1 worth of injectable medicine.”
In how many other positions do 17 year vets get $600k as their salary, and how difficult/important are those jobs compared to a football strength and conditioning coach?
Why would you want to be that good at one thing? Seem like the symptom of a diseased/boring/incurious mind.
There really need to be a new actual Olympics where there are like 10 events. No shoes no fancy clothes, no sponsors.
This whole thing is a sham. That said, if your dream is to be an Olympic boxer you need better dreams. It is an incredibly corrupt sport combined with an incredibly corrupt event run in an fairly corrupt country. What exactly did they expect?
Like the guy said in the other thread, they tried to buy drugs (possibly from a police officer, or someone posing as one?), got robbed, and that is why their story is weird and they didn’t contact the authorities. But then they told their friends, and so people asked them about it, and it snowballed out of control.
Yeah people never lie about rape...
We have a winner.
Good for him, if more politicians represented their constituents instead of themselves you would see a lot more of this.
Rock climbing in a gym, frequently in competitions it will also be over a pool, so there is a not a need for ropes.
Its almost like it is a silly event the players don’t care about. I think it is so funny that people think that this is somehow going to raise the profile of golf, which has already gone through several boom periods and is about as large as it realistically is going to get.
This is the comment of someone who doesn’t understand engineering at all. You always make these trade offs with literally every single thing you ever do or make. You could drive to the store in a tank in full body armor to be maximally safe, you do not, even if it were legal. It is too expensive to be practical.
I have made so much hay in my professional career over the years being the guy who will look an angry unhinged co-worker in the eye (who might be legitimately mad at me not getting some in-their-eyes important task done), and accept responsibility.
