I totally agree, but I have to say, I was curious so I checked into her news program and even that shocked me. Like, if she’s not being an argumentative jerk on Fox News, she is utterly boring. Her “straight news” voice is actually incredibly hard to listen to.

Kinda like Michael Jordan taking a stab at baseball. A bad idea any way you slice it.

That’s a fair point (the first part). But still, that’s a less valuable demographic and she is hated by the current, more valuable demographic. Jack made a better call when he traded his cow for some magic beans.

From her point of view, I totally get it. Getting away from Fox News was a smart idea, both because it is losing ratings and because of her pissing off Trump voters.

My point is that NBC had no reason to think she would be successful in a very different job with a very different audience.

This! Taking a personality out of a specific media environment (ie, tailored audience of aged conservative Christians) for another and expecting success is like expecting a shark to be an effective predator on land.

Megyn Kelly has no constituent audience; conservatives considered her a traitor when she left Fox News, and she blew the one chance everyone else gave her with the Alex Jones interview.

A lot changed in the past year or two, including Kelly pissing off a good deal of her previous audience by daring to ask Trump questions during a debate, and the usual cycle is that no one wants to think about politics at all the year after an election, so it would have theoretically been a good time for a re-brand.

In general, but that’s not the audience for this show. It’s mostly women, ages 25 to 54. A decent chunk of them are non-white. That’s not her audience. That demo hates her.

Who watches daytime tv? Old people and white women, both uber-conservative groups. I don’t think it was a stretch to think they might dig someone from Fox. I think its a statement of just how gross Megyn Kelly is that she can’t even get other gross people to check it out

I still can’t understand why anyone at NBC thought this was a good idea. She’s very popular with a specific segment of the population (old white Republicans) doing a certain thing (looking smug while pushing conservative spin).

This job is completely different and the audience you are going for is completely

In California, Trump’s new budget, according to Jared Call from California Food Policy Advocates, would essentially have the state choose between SNAP and education, an unconscionable choice.

Yawn. Guess state’s rights are only A Thing for states who take more from the public trough than they put in.

I don’t know if that’s what McCain came to DC to do.(I’m not saying you are claiming that was his intent just that I’m genuinely unsure of his intent here, myself.) McConnell certainly thought he had him or he would never have brought the bill forward. And I doubt McCain lied to him.

He’s one of the few people I believe would be capable of pulling this off. I was so angry when he came back and helped move it forward. After his no vote I thought he made a deal to he the 3rd no so other republicans wouldn’t have to go out on the limb. Now that we have more details I’m inclined to agree with you.

Oh, for sure: it’s not to downplay his other legislative issues, the fact he’s not really a maverick, the hard work Collins and Murkowski did from day one, or the fact that McCain gave us Palin. I can appreciate, however, the art of the last minute ‘fuck you,’ and if anyone knows the procedural rules necessary to do

I am so tired of Tomi Lahren: this Anne Coulter 2.0 shtick is killing me inside. And what’s worse, she’s had all this exposure and people praising her opinion at a young age: as far as she’s concerned, she’s The Child What Come To Lead Us, with her unique insights that no one else could possibly have.

Yeah, for whatever bizarre reason the majority of GOP legislators still think that Trump is necessary for their own continued success, but eventually that support will disappear. When the time comes that they realize he is jeopardizing their own reelection campaigns, the GOP leadership in house and senate will turn

It takes a lot of balls to threaten and insult the FBI, the NSA and the CIA to their faces, then practically DARE them to ‘come at me, bro.’

I averaged it out among all the various dipshits. Trump, for instance, yearns overtly for the 1950s, while Sessions obviously pines for the days when the Jim Crow laws were newly passed. Mike Pence seems to think he’s currently living in the 1950s, so it’s anyone’s guess what decade he’s aiming for.

1830? Please. They’d already stopped burning witches by then and free public education was starting to become more and more available.
