I grew up in West Texas, surrounded by the low rider scene. This is simply an extension of the hispanic tradition of lowering cars and plating anything and everything in chrome or gold. A well-prepped '84 Monte Carlo in a metallic candy and a crushed velvet interior and a trunk full of shiny hydraulic pumps can look

I had a friend get popped trunked on in Houston traffic. Written in neon lights was "NOW I KNOW YOU MAD". We all laughed when we heard the story.

Slabs and Donks are old American cars that have massive amounts of external modification. Lots of Chrome and pearl paint with usualy large wheels. It is most common in the African American culture but many are fond of it it, especially on the Southern United States. The Trunk pop is for sound systems. In most cases

Indeed you may not want to hear them, which is why the organized cruising day/slab parade days were organized. Slab drivers and ethusiasts get the nod to show off their cars/appreciate some rather stylish examples of gilded luxury - which I neglected to mention is another thing I've noted as a difference between slabs

Good afternoon, Jalops. As a former resident of H-Town, TX, I'd like to attempt to answer some of these burning questions re: slabs, popped trunks, and a facet of car culture particular to that part of the world.

Alright white people gather round. SLAB is explained in the article incorrectly but its Slow Low And Bangin'. In the south people tend to drive their cars slower if they put customization work in them so that others can see them, thus the slow. They are preferred to be lowered but if your rims won't allow such then

uh, Spoiler Alert?

Jesus, Kool-Aid Man. You really need to learn how to bunt, considering you're a pitcher and all.

Agreed, what is the reason for the open trunk?

I swear the Kool Aid facial expression changes as it topples over through the wall

I don't understand most of these words. Slab? Why is his trunk popped? Why is that good?

I think we need more info.

Maybe GM should do a swap, give Buick to Europe, Opel (or Vauxhall) to the US and remove Chevy from Europe. Opel has quite a poor image in Europe, it's hurting their sales. Not as poor as Chevy, but still poor.

Most of females I know drive small cars, when they get into my SUV they say they like sitting up high and looking over traffic. They don't want to park such a big SUV or pay for gas. Now companies give them an alternative tall and efficient. This is the type of market I think they're aiming at.

The people who are buying them like a small car, that's tall so they can see out like they can from a big SUV, quite nicely trimmed inside, and economical. That's not me, but it is a lot of people. This sort of teeny tiny crossover type thing sells very well in Europe.

Am I the only one that was waiting for this?

I thought that too. Here, we would shut down the intersection for hours, trying to reason with the poor soul.

Sometimes, it can be a healing experience.

Looks like a nice solid contact with his chin came right towards the end there. He went all sack of potatoes after that.
