You’re right. I don’t think a 13 year old that stabs a 12 year old 19 times should get a relaxed sentence, which must mean I have never met a 13 year old. After all, if I had, I would clearly be on board with 3 years max in juvenile detention.

I’d say that using mental illness to excuse such monstrous behaviour is a pretty offensive to people that face it every day, yet wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Here’s what I keep thinking. I can understand that a 13 year old doesn’t have the same judgment as an adult. I understand they do stupid stuff. But these girls stabbed someone 19 times. I would be more understanding if they hired someone to stab someone, or if they shot someone, or made some stupid, immoral decision
