It isn't clear from the story, but it sounds like this occurred because the purser didn't realize that they were talking to the VP and was lying. I imagine the exchange was similar to this:

"May I have some warm macadamia nuts?"-VP
"We don't offer those on all flights"-Purser

Pretty sure that she wasn't interfering. Interfering is standing up when the crew member tells you to sit down. Telling the person that they are being fired is a different matter.

I disagree.
1) You do not pay a 10% penalty if you withdraw your contribution. You only pay 10% on any earnings your investment has made over the year. You can withdraw EARNINGS with no penalty if it is a school expense.

Allow me to explain my statement in more detail.

This is actually most important for math.

I take issue with this comment.

Maybe. Or maybe they decide to destroy $2 million in tea owned by a privately-held company.

I think you will find the book interesting. I think the difference in this discussion is that I believe that people do not really know what they want.

Yeah, most of these strike me as "generalizations that aren't technically true" rather than misconceptions. A misconception is "the gender of the first child influences the gender of the second child".

I fully understand the sentiment, but reality seems to be the exact opposite. Take the famous example: "If someone cheats on me it would be better to have them admit it rather than lie to me about it." Some researchers investigated and discovered that it actually didn't matter. The odds of the relationship lasting

If they are capable of making that decision for themselves then how about we expect them to be capable of spotting a lie? Oh, that won't work because of confirmation bias? Then telling them the truth won't work either.

Funny thing. Almost no one prefers to hear the truth.

These are the wrong questions. Allow me to fix it:

1) Does this lie help me?
2) Is this lie easy to catch?
3) This is going to be awesome!!!!(I lied, this isn't a question)
4) Could I make myself look even better with a different lie?
5) Is this lie stupid?

You know what else causes this? Being awesomely tall.
So basically, all of you little people have a new problem and we awesome people all have the same old one.

Misquoting Jesus(anything by Ehrman really) is life-changing because it forces Christians to view their specific views as a bit capricious. "The Evolution of God" is a thoroughly well-researched book that teaches you a lot about history(like Misquoting Jesus) while extending the lesson to all people of all religions.

Yep, those two things will get you the equivalent of a Master's in Finance. That is why so many companies avoid debt like the plague.

Finance related:

12:21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

Money....
Maybe she was being thankful for the concept of a fungible currency. It is pretty awesome.

This is dumb. Doublespaces were taught to people who are 50 or older. Many of those people became teachers/parents and continued to teach it. Many of those students have learned it isn't required, but it is almost impossible to unlearn it.
