Not saying that the Inuit were proof that a carb-free diet is "awesome". My point was simply that primates of the species "pans narrans" can live with minimal carbs. It is a rather extreme diet, to be sure. However, the Inuit were breeding and multiplying, which is one definition for a "healthy" specimen.
Sorry that should have been Inuit
Not necessary is a far cry from "we totally evolved to eat them on a regular basis". Considering that only one group has ever survived sans carbs and they aren't exactly the healthiest motherfuckers, I don't know that a carb-free diet is a brilliant idea.
Devil's Advocate: Intuit Diet has almost no carbs. It is incredible that the people can survive on such a diet and is a marvel of adaptation to extreme conditions that has some health side effects and requires some very specific regimens be followed....
They have another thing in common. They all have cells with mitochondria. All cancer cells have mitochondria. If only we could kill the mitochondria!! In fact, the mitochondria is probably what is causing the cancer. You are a GENIUS!!!
You are so wrong Alan Henry. Casual Male has NOTHING for skinny tall guys. That store is a fat man paradise that keeps one size of slightly unstylish non-fat pants. I literally was told once that they couldn't get me ANYTHING in a 36" inseam(6'6" here). 36" inseam is the beginning of tall pants. I can go buy a 34"…
So, according to you, exceeding the speed limits always increases the risk of an accident. Is that because higher speeds are more dangerous(physics) or is it because the speed limit was carefully calculated to be the optimum safe speed for that road.
And in the lawbook, how does it recommend you determine that all lights are stuck on red and that this is not a normal situation? Do you wait 30 seconds and observe no other traffic navigating the intersection? Do you wait 15 minutes?
The speed limit is simply a civic design consideration, like designated parking places and stop signs. I don't feel that simply violating these rules is criminal behavior. Lowering the speed limit doesn't always result in safer roads. Even if it does, not all speeding is reckless.
I wont get specific about the question, but I once attended an interview where there had been an emergency at the company and they had sent a recent college graduate(of another field of expertise) to interview me. He had a hastily written list of questions. One of the questions essentially condensed to: " Could you…
The Base Rate Fallacy: Most common amongst doctors.
Except, my birdman friend, you are wrong. The original paper about the internet and depression said that they were correlated. It didn't attempt to imply causation. Science abounds with correlation-led studies. Isaac didn't know that "slake-moth" wanted the dreamshit, but it was implied by the way the animal…
I think I understand this move. This goes back to piracy.
And as more people want to live in that limited space, the value of that land will appreciate. The value of that home? Not so much. If you had a house in the middle of Manhatten, the land would be worth quite a lot. The house would probably be worth quite a lot too(but only because of the value of the land). You…
If that is how you determine that purchasing a home is a good investment, then we need to talk. Houses are not a limited commodity. If we need more houses, we build more houses. It isn't particularly hard to purchase land and build housing. There are also definite 'trends' in home ownership, with the most recent…
Yeah, I can't believe that they would demo a new feature by turning it on by default. Never seen that behavior before.....
The point of the article is that a house should not be expected to have "capital appreciation". It is a good point. While housing markets swell and drop, the average rise of the housing market isn't particularly good. There isn't any reason to think that the market will rise much faster than inflation(on the…
There are two definitions of "investments".
Glad you are reading "Black Swan". You can skip it. It is exactly the same as "Fooled by Randomness", except that was a bit better.
