Not sure what you are saying. Amazon's business model is fairly classic. It is the razor/razorblade model. If Apple was destroying Amazon in the ebook market, I doubt they would have colluded with the major publishers in a price fixing scheme.

No, what is truly bizarre is the Lana Wachowski seems to have selected the same hairstyle as Lola from "Run Lola Run".
I thought that was the whole purpose for having the Wachowski's run the project and Tykwer direct it(since he can be fairly dynamic with style). I guess it was really just an excuse to have a mass orgy of over-hyped directors known for projects based on "wouldn't it be cool" ideas.
We will see. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these "losses" are him sinking some investment into "same day delivery" infrastructure or something similar. It wouldn't be completely out of character for Amazon to sink a big chunk of money into something without really explaining their thought process.
This isn't really a big deal, nor does it indicate that they are losing money "per item". Amazon is still actively building new lines of business, and it isn't surprising that they spent a lot of money. In fact, it was expected. It was just a tiny bit more than was expected.
As someone who hasn't read the book, I take it that it might have been more effective to hire a different cinematographer(or something similar) for each 'shift'? It sounds like the book made a purposeful shift in style.
It depends on how we define "physical". If you are using physical to refer to anything that has a physical component, such as hormones, genetics, brain structure, etc then I think we muddy the term "physical" quite a bit.
If someone wishes to improve a physical disfigurement or injury for the purpose of improved mobility or to increase social acceptance(i.e. a burn victim), I would not consider that "mentally ill". If someone wanted surgery to feel better about themselves, I would consider them mentally ill(i.e. someone seeking…
Please inform me. I was under the impression that removing the classification of "mental disorder" was mostly motivated by the negative connotation of the term. I wasn't aware that there was a significant shift in the scientific definition of "mental illness" or "mental disorder".
It matters in an ironic way. Religious people like to point to Einstein as proof that one of the most recognized scientists was religious. It makes them feel better. Ironically, factually-minded people like to point out that he was not religious. This is ironic because the people who are invoking Einstein to…
There is absolutely nothing wrong with her. She simply needed to have a physical surgery to make her a sane and satisfied person. If she hadn't received surgery, she would have been distraught and unstable. Why would we characterize a person who is emotionally unstable with their physical state and the way society…
People who have functional genitalia of both sexes? That would be rather unique, considering that the anatomy of genitalia in humans are somewhat "dual purpose". i.e. You can't have a functioning vagina and penis. They are essentially the same organ.
Dollars to donuts the kids got suspended because when they found the "dirty pictures" they quickly went out of their way to "indulge" in their new-found booty.
You miss my point. On a little pond skip, you have no reason to recline your seat. If you are on a 3+ hour flight, then go for it. If you are flying from Chicago to Indy, then just leave it up. You are bothering the person behind you.
Yeah, because fat people have long legs not wide hips. Also, if you hit your head on stuff, lose some weight.
As someone with a math degree, the show numbers got a lot of things wrong. However, they have the most succinct explanation of this problem. Check it out, then move forward.
So, are you suggesting that the entire "15 years on death row" thing is a delusion? I think the book is about what it is like to be in prison on death row. I am fairly confident that this guy was in prison and on death row. I am also fairly confident that he is now exempt from execution and free of prison.
This is the biggest non-even EVER. How in the world does this matter? There are clearly examples of Apple Maps not working. All they are saying is that it has flaws(which we all agree exist). Is anyone honestly concerned that they decided to use a fake address for this example?
Anakin Skywalker deserves to be on this list, but his actions during war aren't really mass murder, neither is killing a small group of sand people.
Having a licensed set of instructions means that you have quite a headstart in designing the chip. Granted, most companies license their mobile chip instructions from ARM. This makes things simpler. However, designing an ARM chip is much simpler than designing a RISC chip from scratch.
