Excellent B plots, but B plots nonetheless. However, James’ “When the Duke Returns” AND “Once Upon a Tower” have virgin heroes, and both are quite good.
All of her books are excellent. She’s a Ph.D. Shakespearean scholar, and it shows in her characters, plots and use of the language. She wrote my favorite male virgin hero, which can be awkward if handled poorly.
For paranormal historical romance, try Kristen Callihan’s Darkest London series. Great world building, strong women, hot sexytimes.
