@footnotegirl: Ah, I forgot about her previous attitude toward children. I clearly should've reread the first two before picking up "Mockingjay."

@footnotegirl: Ugh, I know. Poor Finnick. He grew on my hugely as a character.

I was infuriated that nobody came to Katniss with an explanation about what was happening when she was in the holding cell after killing Coin. It was bothered me that justice was being done in secret (or away from the accused, at least), which made it feel like society wasn't changing all that much after all. I guess

@bookling: Agreed with all of the above. Ain't no way Katniss would OK another Hunger Games. When she says, "This is for Prim," I assume she's hatching her plan to assassinate Coin, who presumably gave the OK to drop the parachute bombs.

@bookling: Yeah, I was a little surprised at the marriage and kids. I really, really wonder what kind of parents they are, and what Katniss did with her life once she came back to herself. Omitting the Epilogue leaves a lovely bit of ambiguity that leads you to fill in the blanks.

@bookling: This book has the saddest happy ending ever.

Sooooo ... I guess I'll be first.

I'd like all U.S. currency to start being issues with teeny, tiny frogs on them. (Perhaps just a drawing of said frogs, though, as we wouldn't want the actual frogs to come to harm when being stuck into vending machines and parking meters and such.)

@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: I think io9 could stand a bit more LOL speak. And let's face it; it's just the two of us talking in this thread at this point.

@dr_bambi: Riiiiight. Because without a comma, that sentence has a punctuation error! :)

@dr_bambi: But it does effectively convey out-of-control excitement, doesn't it?

Air fist pump! I am so excited! SO EXCITED I HAVE TO USE CAPS LOCK!

There once was a young girl named Katniss

@CaptainSnarky: I'm trying to decide between a preorder and getting it from the library. It seems relatively low profile, so maybe the wait at the library won't be insane.

@Evil Tortie's Mom: R.O.A.C.H.: I started looking them up on Amazon, and when my husband noticed that, he mentioned that he'd bought the first several when they were newly released. So now all I need to do is take a spelunking trip to the basement to dig them up. Thanks again for the recommendation!
