Great reporting, Ethan. This is the kind of article I could only find from Kotaku. Logged in for the first time in months just to thank you for this and to say how nice it is to see this kind of work here again.

It’s games like these that I always think of when big publishers say they need to increase prices or add microtransactions, real currency clones, in-game stores, and gambling to games in order to make them profitable. Bologna. I’d like to see how the ROIs compare.
I want to know when the game will start getting improvement patches. I don’t think anyone’s reported on when CDPR will actually start fixing the bad design decisions and cut corners.
Oh please oh please oh please...
Link us to your Patreon, Jason. I bought your first book and will buy the second too.
Hi Heather!
Has anyone experienced this problem, and maybe has a solution? I can’t buy games online from Ubisoft. I have Uplay, but there is no store in it. It knows the Ubisoft games I’ve bought in the past, all of which were bought through Steam, but it does not have a store built into it. I’ve redownloaded it several times,…
I mean, SOMEONE has to pay for Randy Pitchford’s legal bills...
I wish Steam would convert the Wishlist to an ‘autobuy at this price’ tool. I don’t just want to tell Steam what games I’m interested in, I want to tell Steam (and the devs) the value I put on the game at that time. And it would be nice if devs could get that info, and use it to determine their prices, or sale prices.…
Thank you good sir, you’ve done me a service.
Does anyone remember a game like this, black and white graphics, stick figures, etc. on the Macintosh? A 2D level would load, it would look kind of like old Donkey Kong with a bunch of vertical platforms that generally angled towards a hole at the bottom of the screen. Your job was to place all kinds of traps, bombs,…
When in Rome, do as the Roman’s do. When using English to communicate with an English-speaking audience, use the naming order that that audience is used to (in this case, personal name first, family name last).
Or, you know, Apple could just get off their lazy ass and add a toggle switch allowing us to mute calls unless they’re in our Contacts list.
“When in Rome, do as the Romans do” always seemed like sound advice to me.
1/2 on topic, I can’t seem to buy this game digitally. It’s not on Steam, but it seems to be on Uplay and Epic. I have the Uplay client from previous Anno/Settlers games and such, but I can’t find the store in the client. Some posts online suggest that, if your previous Ubisoft games were bought from Steam, you’re not…
It’s nice to see what can be done, even in this service-shooter genre, when a pub lets devs use tools that work and (I think according to Jason) doesn’t crunch them to death.
Thanks, Jason! Good work and a good read.
Competition is good, thus exclusivity is bad.
Thanks Jason. Another story of mismanagement by EA and BioWare, it seems. EA forced the team to use an unsuitable engine and rather than support it properly to compensate for that unsuitability, they did the opposite and stripped developers away to go make FIFA’s next roster update... It also sounds like EA/BioWare…
Well, it’s still an Early Access/beta version, so this is to be expected. They’ll get it fixed, eventually (unless EA pulls another Andromeda).
