Yea, I'd say Metallica doesn't fit the 'Rock and Roll' genre. However, I would say that Guns N Roses does, and even though they couldn't keep it together for long, they are a better band than Aerosmith. In my opinion, longevity is as overrated in music as it is in sports.

If I don't ever hear another Aerosmith song as long as I live, it'll be just fine by me.
