I’m with him on that one: I’m done with rape in film and television. I just can’t anymore.

I also grew up with Buffy and ended up having to tap out in season 6. I didn’t like that season much when I first watched it, but in the years since I’ve developed a huge appreciation for it. Buffy just ended up growing up faster than I did, and I had to catch up a little to appreciate the brilliance of that season.

I’d forgotten about that perfect 24 hours episode. Sheesh, that was devestating. And now I’m reminded of that episode where Buffy was in a mental institute, having to decide whether to stay or go back to her ‘delusions’. Man, so many good episodes in Buff Buff and Angel.

I HATE THE MUSICAL EPISODE!!! Probably because I work in musical theatre and 1) I don’t want it intruding on my non musical life and 2) WHY??? There was zero point to it besides they just wanted to and it was the worst.

I think that was treated with an unbelievable amount of nuance though. Like, they had had a sexual relationship, he took that to mean that her withdrawing consent was false (happens all the time), and then the look on his face when she forces him off of her and he realizes what he did was just very well-acted.

Lindy West has a passage in her book about Sir Hiss as an aside on her take about fat animated characters, and she makes a comment about Kluck from Robin Hood “being a four hundred pound chicken, she wasn’t afraid to throw down in a fight with a lion and a gay snake.” And I spat Coke everywhere, because yes of course

I made the grievous error of watching the theatrical cut, loving it, and picking up the director’s cut on the cheap believing I was getting an even better version. I was wrong. Not all director’s cuts improve the film, and Ridley Scott I am waiting on a director’s cut of Thelma and Louise, but considering that does

YASS. I go as Donnie Darko every Halloween (it’s easy & last minute). I was in love with it as soon as that tracking shot set to “Head over Heels” started.

You can tell a lot about a person by their feelings on Donnie Darko.

Watched this for the first time long after the hype train had passed. I genuinely don’t get its appeal. But more power to the people who love it.

He’s like Jack Black, but only if you subtract Black’s charm, charisma, and humor.

Yikes. Not so good, there. Of course, this may be colored by my general dislike of Josh Gad (there’s just something about that guy), but if this is Disney’s idea of “subtle and delicious,” then yeah, yikes.

I see you’ve met my local church’s pastor.

Wait, Scar and Jafar were supposed to be gay??

What percentage of the time would his shirt be off?

You are so right. The concept of reading ability degrading over time is real. I’m struck now by how aware I am now that reading is a skill. I used to sit and read for hours as a kid/teen/young adult. Now in my 30s, I realize how quickly you lose that mental patterning that supports active reading. If you’re not

I like these tips although I pretty much do the opposite. On the one hand, I love Audible because it frees up my hands and kindles aren’t thin & light enough to be my go to device just yet.

My hangup is finding more books to read, I spend hours agonizing over what to read next and have trouble committing to anything.

I used to love reading when I was younger until college. 100+ reading requirements per class session quickly killed that. I couldn’t handle active reading for fun on top of class requirements. Roommate got an X-box and I got into gaming. Comic books too in a big way. Probably the only one keeping the Ultimate

I once read a story about a woman who drove down a boat ramp and into a lake even though she could see how that would end, but she did it anyway because her GPS kept insisting that was right.
