You are so the veggie sandwich lady.
You are so the veggie sandwich lady.
I patiently gave a very detailed, courteous response to someone in another thread. They got my patience quota for the day. You didn't appear to be open to any dialogue whatsoever, and you were incredibly flippant in your disregard for a disease that affects BILLIONS of people. I noticed after I posted a response to…
I hate to break it to you, but the PRESIDENT of France is a Socialist, too! And a socialist in the real definition of the word, not the scary, right-wing, scare-quote misunderstanding of socialism.
I disagree. I think the perspective here on Jezebel is less about 'yay, she's a woman, so she's going to be an awesome Mayor!' and more 'yay, a system with deep roots of sexism finally elected a woman!'
I would *maybe* take this comment more seriously if you didn't refer to it as the "Democrat party."
You can disagree with Jez's stance on vaccine, but you're speaking as if vaccinating children is a private decision. It is a public health issue. Public. Everyone. Your kids too, dude.
Hep B is not just a sexually transmitted disease. I work as a nursing assistant and we're all required to be vaccinated and provide titers showing that we are immune because something as simple as a scratch can transmit it. It's also one of the hardier viruses out there, and if you to manage to get it, Hepatitis D can…
Respectfully, your view that we should let kids' immune systems "develop a little" is not supported by the evidence.
Whooping cough epidemics have been linked to families not vaccinating. No, forcing people to vaccinate wouldn't change the fact that they're ineffective in some people, but that's why we measure antibody titres. Additionally, forcing people to vaccinate would greatly reduce the number of infant and child deaths…
"Parents need to look out for their kids before anyone else's"
If you don't understand the science, how in the world could you possibly estimate that 49 vaccines is excessive? YOU ARE BASING YOUR DECISIONS ON ARBITRARY THINGS.
I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you here. It's the responsibility of the physician to promote and protect public health. I wish we lived in a world in which it was the law to vaccinate, because we wouldn't see the numbers of infants dying of pertussis and measles. We wouldn't see outbreaks in largely unvaccinated…
The reason why Hep B is given so early is because chronic Hep B can be prevented in an infant born to a mother who is infected if it is given early enough. Many, many women give birth without knowing they are infected, or without their Hep B being detected yet. Here is some literature on the subject: http://www.immuniz…
Well, if you were born before 1990, that means you got the whole cell pertussis vaccine instead of the current acellular variant, where we went from 5000 different antigens in the whole cell variant down to 5. That's a pretty big difference, no?
It's up to the parent but that parent's shitty decisions can affect other children and even adults. Also please post this legitimate sources on the anti-vaccination side that should be trusted.
Fun fact, due to the improvement in vaccine technology, the amount of immunoreactive material in current vaccines (the sum of all 49), is actually less than what you got as a child.
"Excuse me, I've been eating bread my whole life, and gluten will literally kill me."
Someone will. You watch. Someone will explain that the employees were at fault in these situations.
These are my favorite kinds of customer stories, because not even the kindest soul could think that the customers are right in these situations.
What? Really? Which diseases are you vaccinated for that don't exist anymore? Polio? wait... Measles that's it... hang on a minute, there was just an outbreak... The only disease I can think of that legitimately doesn't exist anymore is small pox. And if you were born after 1980, odds are, you didn't get that vaccine…
