Well what you have sounds like a pay grade above any of the self-published authors I’ve met. This article aside, is running a whole operation with these expenses really worth it?
A lot of work goes into published books besides the author’s writing: editors, copywriters, layout and design, marketing, and the rest of the infrastructure required to support and manage these people. To say a self-published work should be priced the same is absurd.
It’s actually a really great game, too. My biggest complaint is the audio production. It needs some music and more riveting sound effects.

They routinely post and comment on the game’s subreddit. I’ve gotten responses directly from the team to some of my comments. In my experience, they’ve set the bar high for community support.

Sounds like a project that will use all it’s funding and be released with 15% of its original scope.
I think almost all of the problems could be solved by not trying to apply it to existing games, but rather allowing developers to opt into the program in the future.
