Good to know. I remember reading reviews at the time, wondering if DW7 was much better, and generally found critical ambivalence. In hindsight the media I was reading at the time probably didn't make a sincere attempt to review it, as other commenters have pointed out.
I had a roommate who was a fairly casual gamer, and I picked up DW6 for something like $8.00. It became strangely consuming for him, trying to win the campaign and unlock all the items and characters. So I guess that happens to some people.
