I disagree. I think there are a lot of places who won't hire her, but there are a lot of places who will. I think the next 18 months is going to be crazy hard, but I have a feeling she's had crazy hard 18 month periods before. I think she and her family will turn out okay. I trust in their capabilities.

There is a big difference between saying, "Lady, I support your decisions and I think you are doing the best you can" and saying "Oh, I feel so bad for you! You had no other options!" One shows solidarity and is respectful of her personhood, and the latter is patronizing and dehumanizing.
