Sure, I mean, everyone knows the Lexus LS460 is a great car, but don't have the money to buy and maintain it, and opt for the car they can afford.
If you have an understanding of PC hardware, what's compatible with what, performance, etc - sure. That level of understanding is not needed for consoles.
How much would it cost to create a PS2 emulator? I'm not saying emulate the games, I'm saying create an emulator that users could buy for use with their own discs. If PCSX2 can exist, Sony can make something better.
But that's it. That's the one requirement. Have the console. OK, to be fair, some games need HD space.
Crack whore is high on crack.
PC games work out of the box as much as console games.
GTA 4 - there was so much I loved about the game, and I wanted so very much to play it through, but so much of the game relies on relationships that need to be maintained. I wanted a free roaming game that let me do what I wanted when I wanted. The interruptions made it seem like I would be missing out if I didn't…

Sony set a precedent for backwards compatibility, and they flip-flopped. BC isn't the only thing gone. Remember when it was possible to install another OS?
Software emulation for PS2 support would be fairly simple. PS3 BC could be difficult but from what I understand there is no significant hurdle to overcome for PS1 and PS2 software-based emulation on PS4 without any hardware changes at all. Hell, they can sell the emulator package.
In all honestly, I most likely will be getting a PS4, but it's going to have to wait for a price drop, and it's going to have to wait until I've had a chance to play the things I currently own.
For fucks sake, I'm not leveling all of that solely on you. Man people at Kotaku are sensitive :) (I say this as I'm getting pissed and insulted by the replies I'm getting, not just yours, so count me in there as well)
With my setup, swapping out consoles is NOT trivial. Maybe it was for you, but it's a pain in the ass with my setup. I don't have the room to store spare consoles either.
In addition to this, there is a comfort factor. I would like a single unit to handle more than one type of gaming. I would like to have a single…
My PS3 had BC built in. If the PS3 didn't have BC I likely would not have bought one. Did I sell off my consoles? No. Do I sell anything back? No. The amount of money offered is pathetic. Do I have all my old consoles hooked up? No. What's my situation? I'm not able to play my PS2 or XBox 1 games. It's not…
Perhaps now that is true, but it's been many years since there was a need for such machines. Now you'll notice that we are in a similar position. Blu Ray players are backwards compatible with DVDs.
I dunno, I've had burgers that have been more amazing than steaks.
For fuck's sake, guys. Make your consoles backward compatible.
Why are people complaining about a lack of BC? Because it used to be an option which was removed, and the removal was in part pressure from 3rd parties. I would pay more for a system with BC, which would give me a single system to use as opposed to having multiple consoles connected.
No one bitched and whined when VHS became DVD
