I guess I'm surprised that there were changes to the Virtual Console at all. Does the Wii U have VC support for game systems that the Wii VC didn't have?

I thought that since the VC was essentially a console for older pre-Wii systems that VC games would be Wii and Wii U compatible since there really seems to be no reason they shouldn't be.
