No one would have guessed that Titanic would have made a proft at the box office, after 250 million and delays - but it made it big-big-big. HOWEVER - that’s the exception, not the rule. I do hope this evetually comes out and works, but yeah - my expectations are lower now.
I still think that counting male/female characters is going too far. Just me. If a person feels you have to have a hero character matching your gender to identify with a work, then maybe that person is investing too much in the work.

Cars wasn’t a bad movie. I liked it. Cars 2, however, stunk deeply. I’d swap Cars with Monsters University on your list.
I’ve never cared about Starcraft’s story, I hop straight to multiplayer and custom matches against the AI. The thing that turned me off on Starcraft 2 was the lack of custom options and the annoying “pro” players who get cranky if you play at your own speed.
