@FriarNurgle: Long story short (possibly with a few gaps and/or errors), the CDRH is a division of the FDA that regulates devices that could harm or kill you. They stand between you and getting a lethal dose of X-Rays at the doctor's office when you crack a rib.
I used to deal with the CDRH and as a past professional LASER operator, I approve of this, wholeheartedly.
