I think it's a very cool design, I hope to see it flying soon.
I have no issues with paying for maintenance on a performance vehicle. My issue is direct injection itself, the S8 has it and so does a 1.0L Fiesta. Both vehicles will need to have the intake manifolds removed and intake ports/valves cleaned.
That was my exact conclusion as I owned and repaired my MINI. BMW doesn't care about vehicle longevity past 50K miles, most of their buyers will only own the vehicles for three to four years. I was amazed at all the sub-par engineering that went in my MINI that Toyota or even GM would find unacceptable. For my…
Interesting
Every other oil change can be a really long time for a BMW and their recommended oil service intervals. Every 8,000 miles may work if done from when the vehicle is new. A catch can will help to.
Yeah, yeah, I know. I've had my Abarth for a year with 20K miles already. Surprisingly it hasn't given me a single issue and it is actually the best new car I've ever owned. It was a steal at $17K too. That's comparing it to Mercs, BMWs, a MINI, a Solstice, Jetta, etc...
My MINI never threw any codes but it felt like I gained back 20 horsepower after each time I cleaned my valves. Most people don't know that it needs to be done unless they have an issue. You can also run a catch can if your car will allow a PCV modification.
It depends on the diesel and if/how it is using an EGR system.
On a BMW/MINI it's not every 4-5 years, it's every 12-15K miles, or when you notice that your vehicle is running with less horsepower and worse mileage. With intake ports and valves covered in oil/carbon you lose a lot of power and eventually you end up with uneven cylinder flow, mismatched fuel ratios, and…
Direct injection sucks so bad. It doesn't matter how hard you drive a DI motor, it will still do this. Sea foam won't help. The only cure is to take off the manifold and clean the intake ports/valves. Audi, BMW, MINI, Ford, all DI motors have this same issue. It sounds like Ford is adding additional injectors in…
500x is angry about the exclusion:
So in the distopian future, we would all be driving CNG California state vehicles.
Even babies and horses have VD. Seriously, a horse show was cancelled to VD last year.
How long would gas last versus diesel? What kind of fuel delivery would be best as fuel quality degrades?
So lavishly appointed there a virtually no options!
