Yes, the old troughs. Most often 30-40 feet long, double sided and made of cast iron. Nothing like being dick-level to 20 drunk dudes from southie when your 7 years old. Fenway finally ditched the troughs in 1994 and suddenly it was 'Family Friendly Fenway Park'.

A heavy bowl and clipping dip to the outside is the solution to the chip access issue. Think ceramic or stoneware, something with some heft. Its 2012 cantilevered chip-dip-clip clipping is within our reach.

I am in favor of the bowl-clip. Clearly an improper ratio is more of a product of a too-large chip bowl.
