The last point, about your own songs, is a huge one for me. Most other streaming services force you to use a separate music player for your own stuff. Being able to have it all in one place is far better.

True, I do really like lock button on the screen. I've never had to use it, but it's nice to know I could easily lock it if I needed to, even while I have my Smartwatch on me.

Yeah a little more control over a couple things like that would be nice. I get paid biweekly though, so my paychecks are always moving around from month to month and lining up my paychecks with my bills is just impossible anyways.

It seems strange that it could tell all that information from the accelerometer. Like how can it tell the difference between being in my pocket, and being set on a table? If I sit down, it’s just as still as on a table. Maybe it has to be laying perfectly parallel to the ground to count as a table, but then what if I

I was never using cash for years before I even started using mint. There are a ton of advantages to using cards, especially credit. But if you prefer cash, then yeah Mint will be more difficult to take advantage of.

Locking your phone in some way is very important, and “it’s too inconvenient” is not a valid argument anymore. Its a little disheartening to see more than a quarter of people still saying they don’t lock their devices. Android has pattern locks, which have been around for a while and on their own pretty much negate

Tracking it no longer involves “a fair bit of math”. I have a very difficult, complex three step system that I use to track every single expense and keep them all organized in categories so I can easily keep an eye on my spending. I actually devised this system based on some tips from Lifehacker.

Prenups are an interesting topic to look at socially. The “default” seems to be no prenup, so if one suggests the partner might respond with “why? Don’t you believe our marriage will last and it won’t matter?”

Oh really? Interesting. Mine are still completely seperate, though I should mention I don't have an actual Google Voice number, I just set it up for voicemails functionality on my existing Verizon number.

If I get project Fi, will my phone constantly say things like “master, I calculate an 85% chance you will make it to work on time today”

Personally I’m interested to see what this means for Google Voice. Presumably that’s the system they’ll use for voicemails. But it also sounds like Fi integrates heavily with Hangouts, ttheir site mentions using your number for texts and calls on tablets and computers too, specifically “any device that supports

And the most important rule, is to always make sure you get any 401(k) match that your employer offers. It’s free money. A friend of mine has an employer that apparently offers a 401(k) where they will fully match up to 6%. That’s amazing! That’s twice what I get at my employer, who gives me 3%. But I’m pretty sure he

I have never modified my car, and likely never will. But it’s MY CAR and I should be able to if I want to. I’m fine with rules about what you can and can’t do while you’re still paying it off (since the loan company owns part of it). I’m fine with it voiding warranties, tinkering is an “at your own risk” kind of

That's what I was going to suggest too. Even if Netflix isn't a perfect replacement for you because of sports or something, when money is tight, it's going to be good enough for pretty much everyone if it means saving $50 - $100 per month.

Some of the digital ones you actually can guarantee the quality by downloading it in advance. I can’t speak for other services since I haven’t used them, but I know with movies you buy through Google Play, you can have it download the video onto your Android device in advance, and the watch it even with no Internet

Never say never. The only industry as insane about this stuff as the movie industry, is the music industry. And somehow we’ve gone from DRM filled crap, to every major service offers DRM free music files that you can actually download, and almost all the in the same file format of mp3.

I completely agree. I wish movie files were in a standard DRM free format that you could download as well as stream. We won’t be there anytime soon, but it could happen eventually, that’s what we have with music now.

Ah, I haven't heard of that happening, but I can't say I'm surprised. Definitely sounds like a good idea to still keep restaurant receipts then, at least until the transaction is no longer "pending" and has actually gone through a couple days later with the full amount.

Honestly I don’t understand how the game got released without this feature. How did they not realize how awful the long enemy turns were? I thought the game sounded neat and tried the demo before the game was released. I was enjoying the actual game play a bit, but didn’t even finish the demo because it was driving me

Well for the occasional small purchase there's nothing wrong with just using cash and not tracking it, like I would do with the soda from a vending machine example in my original article. But if you make enough small purchases, it can add up to a meaningful amount even if each one individually is small. It would be a
