The West is more important to get a foothold in. The PS4 will outsell the Xbox One in Japan even if they launch in 2015. The West is more of a battleground. It makes sense.

I'd recommend giving Black Flag a go. I've played every Assassin's Creed except the Vita one, and I think ACII and IV are the only good ones. IV is probably the most fun I've had with an Assassin's Creed game, which granted, isn't saying a lot, but I think it's worth a try even if ACIII soured you on the series.
