I keep mine hidden at the top. I don't want to see it, and I keep it at the top particularly because I have ObjectDock located on the bottom.

Don't have a vacuum sealer? Try placing your food in a ziploc bag, then fill your sink with water. Seal the bag, but not completely; leave a gap to allow air to escape.
