Yes 8 and 8.1 had a button. 10 has a Start page or a menu if you really want it.

Typing this in Win10 now. It's pretty nice, a few rough edges of course but the feedback app is pretty nice. It's great that you're not forced to use the start menu, it even started with the Start page as the default for me!

Sure, but it's a waste of space on the task bar. All it does is the same thing as the Windows key or Windows button on the Charms bar. I'm hoping there will be a way to easily remove it.
