I almost added a “God, I sound like a white knight” line at the end of my last post. :)

Point taken. And I’m not trying to turn this into Jezebel, but to follow your example that if Stef were a man, do you think anyone would say male-Stef “wouldn’t look good” with a certain hairstyle? It’s a legit question.

LOL, okay, fair enough. I’m sorry for coming at you like that.

And why is that? Why do you disagree that it’s a dick move for some rando to provide his opinion on whether or not someone would look good (because that’s obviously what matters for car journalists) with short hair? Instead of posting an overused meme, why don’t you go ahead and type out your reasoning?

I think Stef would look just fine with whatever hair length she prefers. I’m currently in Alabama, so perhaps I haven’t hydrated well enough and my pre-heat stroke brain misread your comment, but telling anyone they wouldn’t look good with (xyz) hair is a dick thing to say.

Quarter mile times I don’t know, but it was such a speed-sapper that they introduced a flush grille in the ‘69 Charger 500 (which I think is just a ‘68 Coronet grille?)...

I say a 5,000 pound tin top tank like this one is the absolute safest thing you can transport children in. Let your wife try and open the door, feel how heavy it is. That’s safety. You’re thinking of the children.

I think you’re onto something.

Legit question: Why isn’t this a real thing? Imagine an under-hood type blower, like a Procharger, that runs off the crank via belt... just like an AC compressor. The AC compressor spins all the time whether the AC is on or not. Flip a switch, you have AC. Why not a Procharger-type blower with its own air intake that

The bottom half of that Siata Seat (see-YA-tuh see-AT?) does look like the hull of a boat tapering in toward the center of the car. It even has a break 2/3 up with the headlights just above the waterline for night sailing! SEAT MAKE THIS AMPHIBIOUS NAOW!

I can’t find the height off-hand, I’ll keep looking, but it looks like the overall length of a ‘46-’48 Ford is ~197" and wheelbase is 114"... I know there were some monsters back in the day, but that actually seems quite reasonably sized for a modern car...

Valid points, and I don’t disagree at all. And neglected road maintenance country-wide could very well be a major factor. It might be a rejection of the truck-based SUV craze of the ‘90s/00s... people were raised with those, got acclimated to the higher view, but couldn’t keep up with the gas prices or the V8s to haul

I’m sorry, I replied with my comment below before I’d read all the comments, and I essentially just repeated what you’d already said. Yay for great minds thinking alike! Boo to my unintended plagiarism.

I have a theory I’ve been wanting to propose here for some time: Could it be that crossovers are merely going back to the “ideal” size/shape of a car meant to hold a bunch of humans and their stuff? I’m not saying ideal as far as performance, or looks, but utility/size/height?

Thank you!

They had enough changes done to them that Chrysler designated them the R-body. The last year for the B-body (at least the four doors) was 1978.

They’re all that way. At least ones with front drums. Upgrading to discs is #1 on the list for mine after the rust repair. Trying to stop with the drums in these is scary as hell.

Genuinely curious, as I know GM Powerglides are popular drag racing transmissions, but you put a GM trans behind a 440?

The “do the best you can with whatever you’ve got” kind of achievement ;)

I’ve done stupid things in my Coronet despite not being a teenager. ;)
