I would greatly love one of these. They looked a LOT like the ‘71 Coronets, and you could get a two door hardtop with the same styling. I may get flamed for this, but I feel the ‘71 and on 2 doors here in the US are a little too outrageously styled for my taste. I can appreciate them, I just feel the four doors are

You could get the 426 Hemi in a Coronet, but the engines were discontinued in ‘71/’72... so there may be this bodystyle equipped with a 426 (I know there are ‘71 Hemi Chargers/RRs/GTXs out there), but I *believe* the biggest engine you could get in a four door in ‘71 was the 383. They started putting 440s in in ‘72.

I own a ‘72 Coronet, the Dodge version of this, so I’ll throw this out there. I respect this design a lot, especially the four door sedan. These were designed around ‘68(?) or so, with no idea of what was to come throughout the ‘70s, from 5mph bumpers to the (anticipated) rollover standards that temporarily killed

Hi David,

Also that bathroom sign story is funny as hell, I may need to steal it. :)

I was thinking the same thing about the hood bulge!!

It took me longer than I’d like to admit that you meant “twin cameras” and not “twin camshafts.” Sign of idiocy on my part, or sign I’m a true Jalop? :)

Maybe we could all spring for new parts?

Hi David,

I’ve always liked these. The wagon and the 2-door sedan. A girl in high school had a 4-door, and a bunch of us packed in it to go to a party. Maybe it was the company, but I remember it being a lively ride. My creeping antisocial behavior allowed me to ignore the others in the car and their fun and their jokes and

I worked at a bodyshop for a bit, and there was a “hazing” ritual played on the new guys, too.

Lemmons!

That didn’t even occur to me, but... yeah! :)

This is a very, very good point, I hadn’t thought about the XKE or the 260/280Z 2+2. However, I’d argue that those both suffer because of their fastback/hatchback roofline (like the BRZ/86 twins), whereas a more squared-off “flat roof, 45 degree back window, flat trunk lid” is a better look for four occupants- like,

No, that’s the thing- I don’t even want a slightly bigger car! I love everything about the BRZ/86 twins. I only wish that the roof/rear window were squared off more (like the 130R) so it might not be ridiculous to put a car seat in there, or have older kids ride in relatively okay comfort. Because they’re gonna look

I’d like to think I’m in the target market for a GT86/BRZ/130R/Freeflow/IDx type of car, but I’d like a modicum of utility. It’s not the size of it that bothers me, but the hatchback/coupe layout. The 130R and the Nissan concepts seem to have a more three-box structure that could maybe hold kids older than 3. I have

I used to work at a bodyshop, and the shop truck was an early 80's F-150 with a straight six (I assume a 300? Not sure.) and a 3-on-the-tree. That’s the truck I learned to drive a column-shift on. I loved that truck. It seemed like this great big giant behemoth and I balked at it “only having a six cylinder” but once

You are awesome.

That’s how I reacted, too. My boss came and told me while I was working out on the floor, and my first reaction was, “what an idiot- was it foggy or something?” thinking about the B-17(?) that flew into the Empire State building(?) back in the ‘40s(?). I’d imagine that says a lot about how lucky we’ve been that our
