If I could get a normal-looking C-pillar, maybe make the “floating roof” an option, I’d still buy the hell out of this. I thought floating roofs would grow on me. They have not. The rest of the car is so pleasingly retro, a floating roof doesn’t fit.
Does that 675 have a wide... 4? wheel? The bolt pattern looks larger than the post-67 4-lug wheels. I also see the Avanti resemblance in the EA53, along with the NSU, Corvair, and Panhard, but does anyone else see some AMC Pacer? The front and rear corner lights, the wraparound bodyline?
I am SO close to being a Porsche 928S. This makes me happy.
I did not know that. Thank you!
I always love your articles, but I would Valentines-Day-fall-in-love with a Renault 4 rebuild by David Tracy series.
Just looking at the thumbnail, I believe it’s a Tamiya R/C- here’s a link to one with what looks like the same pic: https://www.fefall.com/1-10-america—tam58650-volkswagen-inc-mf-01—kit—beetle-4wd-tamiya-rally
Is this seriously all it takes to write for Jalopnik now? To ignore the context of what this car included with its purchase price like the disc brakes and that perfect inline-6, Jaguar’s legendary racing heritage, the appeal of the brand at the time, what a tremendous leap (no pun intended) this was from the XK...…

I don’t know how obscure this is, but it’s the first thing that comes to mind; VW “sold” 2 Beetles in the US in 1949. Sold in quotes because I believe one was given to a hotel owner by Ben Pon to cover his bill. I’m not sure what the story is about the other one. Could you imagine trying to prove to people 15, 20…
We have nothing but love for the Stratos and wouldn’t dare say it’s the “weirdest” factory spoiler. It’s the most perfect factory spoiler. ;)
WHOA. I have never seen this before. I’ve seen the original, the mid-80s version (I think C&D did a road trip in one around ‘85?), and I’d always thought that was the end of the Pantera. This is so far removed from the original, but I... kinda... like it, too. Well, I’m not going to do any more work today, I’m gonna…
This is the most correct answer of all. :)
Cool, another reason why I wouldn’t want one. Thanks, Ford!
That’s what I thought!
he second floored it
I laughed, and then I cried. This is so true it hurts.
Or, the Frequenc-E.
Ford Amp, or the Ford Frequency.
