Was this your first time driving one? Being so familiar with Jeeps, what was different about the LC that drew you in? (I’ve never driven either, but I’d love a CJ-2/M38 some day) I’ve always wondered what the draw was to the LC. I love the way they look, but then again, I also love the Scout II, the Checker Marathon,

It really is like what would happen if I was in Mr. Torchinsky’s basement, as he’s a little out of focus, like what my vision would be like after he had drugged and abducted me. Not that I’d complain.

I believe that picture is of a model newer than mine, as it actually has buttons on the doors! In the ‘11, the lock/unlock is riiiight there in the center where that red light is just above the shifter. The window switches are on the left and right of that switch, where in this picture, it looks like there’s a rocker

Sadly, yes. My car is mini... my waistline, not so much.

I bought an ‘11 Cooper S, and I dig it a lot, but I still dislike some of the interior features/”quirks”. I’m not sure how newer F-series Minis are laid out, but, like, the window switches are down in front of the shifter. In front of the cupholder. So if my wife and I get drive-through, any drink larger than a

Okay, great. I was *just* getting over the fact that Nissan’s never gonna make the IDx and now you throw this at me.

It’s been a bit since I’ve seen that episode, but yes, I believe Don rents a red Imperial convertible. Bert would ABSOLUTELY be a Mopar guy. That Exner styling goes hand in tentacle with the octopus painting in his office.

A Trojan?

Is it okay I like that you chose a Courier pickup for your illustrations? Because I, like even as a little kid, loved those (and not the later) Couriers. It looks like a little kid version of an F-150. Like an F-15, or something. And I know an F-15 is a whole other type of truck that hauls its payload underneath the

Good to know! (you know, whenever I happen to have the cash laying around to scoop up a Mangusta ;)) Thank you! :)

What’s the quickest legal way to get $189,500?

I’m not trying to start a fight, I’m genuinely curious- how do you pull the engine? I’ve always wondered how that would be done, as the butterfly doors, being hinged from the middle, I’d always assumed that center beam was structural. Does it just unbolt after removing the rear panels (doors? hood? rear fenders? rear

I was thinking about that; maybe the use of a Samurai was to subtly imply “hey, these types of vehicles are unsafe” in the mind of the reader, to help sell them on the need of these airbags? I don’t know. [Also, I’m not saying a Samurai or the like is more unsafe than anything else, just that in some subconscious way,

I found this link:

Sorry, I don’t have enough caffeine in my system to make sense; I meant I usually only see the liftbacks, which I don’t like... The coupes (which I do like) seem to be much much rarer, and the convertibles even more so.

Beautiful car. I don’t like the liftbacks at all, but this is gorgeous.

Mr. Torchinsky, I have nothing spectacular to add, just that this may be the most I’ve loved an article of yours, and I love all of your articles. Even the one that you’re forbidden to write (the one about a Chevette?). And the “potential bouncy castle” line is genius. Thank you. :)

Dear De Tomaso,

Crap, I didn’t scroll enough to see this, I sincerely didn’t mean to rip you off with my comment. I think a Factory Five is the best solution, as it can be built exactly how the poster wants, and possibly have some leftover for driving lessons to get all 10/10ths out of it. :)

What do Factory Five Cobras go for? With $200k, I’m sure there’s more than enough ways to pack technology into it computer/variable suspension/ECU-wise that would be compliant and comfortable on-road and a screaming demon from hell on the track. Reliable, not a Maserati, and can be as fast as you’d like it to be. :)
