I think it has a lot to do with good marketing. It isn't just the model herself, but also people who work with her (agents, designers, etc...) She just has to have THAT...

I LOOOOOVED her in high school. I have Jewel's first two albums. Her stuff after that were not up to par...at least I don't think so. That said, I've always wondered what singers thought when they heard other people sing their songs at kareoke bars.

@esprit-follet: I don't think France is banning the hijab- just niqabs and burqas.

@calmly: My guess is that "citizenship lessons" are classes/seminars in French culture, usually given to immigrants.

@Squabble: The problem is that knee breaks, pockets, etc...don't change after pants are hemmed.

For the longest time, I didn't wear jeans because none fit me, length-wise. Then, around 2003 or 2004ish all these lines started launching petite sizes. I have two favourites which I wore over and over during the past few months (it's too hot for denim right now) - one is a pair of Banana Republic petite

@deuteragonist: Women's jeans (or at least higher-end jeans) are usually sized by measurements. Heck, even more affordable brands have recently started. Since January, Banana Republic denim sizing went from numbers to waist sizes.

This is an honest question which I've noticed in Canada, too. Why is it that in some cultures, you see men wearing western clothes, but women are usually wearing something from their own culture? I have seen this here in the west as well as on television footage from other countries. I thought this practice would

@Asra Appi: I don't think they're banning the hijab. They're banning full veils which cover faces.

@ShanaElmsford: You think these parents are (secret) famewhores who just want to show off their babies and get some attention themselves?

@QoB: If that's the case, then how come the UK press makes such a big deal out of these kids? You won't see that this side of the pond.

@foochy: Are interracial marriages more rare in the UK than in the US (percentage wise)?

Should this mommy be allowed to have kids if she's not bright enough to realize that her mixed-race kids could end up with different a different skin colour from each other?

@eruantaliel: Yeah, but the GGC logo doesn't make people look like they're having a bad hair day.

Bad hair day, ladies?

So what happens if a bisexual individual marries someone of his/her own sex in one state, then leaves for another without divorcing him/her, marries someone of the opposte sex and finally moving to a state which recognizes same sex marriage? What is the second spouse's status?

I think the most creative types are often shunned by society in general. I recently blogged a piece comparing Michael Jackson and Mozart. Both of them were child stars who didn't have much exposure with kids their own age, so they had to find way to keep themselves entertained. I guess that crazy imagination stayed

@LutherNipperkin: I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with arts programs at school. "Creativity" is a relatively new thing in the academic world in Asia, but classical music lessons have been common for much longer. The Suzuki method, developed in Japan is often criticized because the kids are thought

Lucy Liu's boyfriend looks like THAT? And does she really need money?

@emase: I don't think they are. The Duggars "complete" school at the age of 16 by getting a GED. If they were allowed to go, they'd be homeschooled through the twelfth grade. In addition, all of the unmarried female children have to be accompanied if they go out anywhere. In other words, if they do go to college,
